We've frequently received friend requests from people we've never met.  In fact many come without even an introductory note. To us it would seem that friends should be an online aquaintance at the least.

Do you send to or accept friend requests from total strangers?  What is the friend request function to you?

I don't always have to meet them in person but I don't bother adding people who don't talk to me in chat (but will watch my cam) or send a message.

I don't add people from random requests.  I choose to add ones that I have interacted with in chat, but not all of them.  It depends if I feel a connection, or if there is a reason why I want to be able to find them again or contact them later.  Now that I have learned how to remove people from the friend list, if I change my mind I can just remove them.

no but if u ask for a friend request , they will probably look at u ,and at that point u can chat or pass , I feel it`s a way of saying hi

I do not add randomly or simply accept random requests. I prefer to see if there is some sort of connection prior to adding etc.

We do not accept requests unless we have conversations and or have met before.

What exactly does it do aside from the ability to post an update to your 'friends?

We have been adding only after having a chat in the chat room and interest is there

We have been abreast for a while, since COVID. Actually still are away somewhat (what ever that means lol).. but since our returns to looking we have gotten request for friends without even speaking to the interested party. I would say that before we friend someone we like to have a view conversations with that person first. Even if we haven't me some sort of interaction is important before becoming friends. Long story short, we don't friend people without some history, doesn't have to be a meet up, just some conversation.

friends are a list of people we're interested in. there's no other way to tag/save people/couples you're interested in. having to chat w people first is a barrier to establishing connections - and way too complicated.

Sadly we don't normally accept new friend requests either. We keep a spreadsheet of everyone we are talking to. We normally only add people as friends once we have been chatting and plan on meeting up for a drink/what have you. You definitely have a good point though HOTTDOTTWO.

We don’t accept random Friend requests and our profile stats that. Despite that though, we still receive many friend requests without so much as a message or any other comments. We will delete the request and often block the individual as they clearly show no respect to our profile. Now if we develop a connection then for sure we’ll add you.

We don't accept friend requests normally from people we don't know. You don't become friends outside of the LS without chatting with others first, do you?

I do not have a problem with connecting with others so as long as the request is genuine, I have no problem adding; who knows, it could turn into a lot of potential, right? 😊

No, we do not add people to our friends list until we meet them, or at the minimum have a conversation that we think will lead to something more.
